Gerakiou Waterfall – Natural Beauty near Istiaia, North Evia

Just before the village of Gerakiou in northern Evia lies a small but charming waterfall that brings peace and freshness to the landscape. The Gerakiou Waterfall is formed by streams that flow through the surrounding hills, about 14 km from Istiaia and roughly 1 hour’s drive from Rovies and Iliahtida Apartments.

The village of Gerakiou sits at an altitude of 220 m with beautiful views toward Mount Pelion. Its residents are mostly farmers and winemakers, and the area is filled with small creeks and springs that create a lush natural environment — the perfect setting for this little waterfall.

How to Get There

Follow the Istiaia – Artemisio – Gerakiou road. About 500 meters before the village, a small dirt path leads into the trees. You can easily walk to the spot in just a few minutes — it’s short, safe, and suitable for all ages if you wear comfortable shoes.

What to See

The waterfall forms a small pool surrounded by plane trees and green slopes. The water runs all year, and springtime brings the best flow. Nearby, the “Lake of the Priest” adds a touch of local folklore and mystery. It’s a calm, scenic spot for photos, nature walks, or a picnic under the shade.
