In the village of Agia Anna in Northern Evia, the Folklore Museum of Agia Anna has been preserving local traditions since 1981. It showcases the daily life of the region’s past, with collections of traditional costumes, jewelry, fabrics, farming tools, and household items that tell the story of the people who lived here.
The museum was founded by local residents to protect the cultural heritage of Agia Anna. Recently, it was moved to a larger and more comfortable building and enriched with new exhibits, making the experience even more complete for visitors.
Among its highlights is the authentic Agianniótiki Costume, a traditional outfit worn until a few decades ago in the region. The men’s version includes the classic fustanella and embroidered vest, while the women’s costume features colorful shirts and aprons. Children wore handwoven woolen clothes made on local looms, decorated with intricate needlework designs.
Visitors can explore the lifestyle and customs of past generations, from the Ottoman era to modern times, and understand how local tradition continues to shape the identity of Northern Evia today.
The museum is located near Rovies and Iliahtida Apartments, making it a great half-day cultural trip during your stay. Get in touch with us for visiting details or tips on nearby attractions.
